Dr. Alok Prakash is an accomplished research scientist with over a decade of expertise in resource-efficient AI, edge computing, autonomous vehicles, and intelligent transportation systems. He currently serves as the Scientific Director of the interdisciplinary research program Mens, Manus, and Machina (M3S) at the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART). His work focuses on developing intelligent systems that are computationally efficient and scalable for real-world applications, including smart cities, intelligent transportation systems, and AI for education.
Dr. Prakash earned his PhD from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and conducted his postdoctoral research at the School of Computing, National University of Singapore, where he pioneered methodologies for low-power, high-performance embedded platforms. He has led numerous interdisciplinary projects, advancing the development of energy-efficient computer vision solutions for edge devices, including AI-powered IoT sensors and autonomous systems. An accomplished educator and mentor, he has designed and taught courses in IoT and embedded systems while publishing extensively in top-tier journals and conferences. Dr. Prakash is a Senior Member of ACM and IES.
