Wenci XIN

Postdoctoral Associate

Wenci is a Postdoctoral Associate at the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART), affiliated with the M3S Interdisciplinary Research Group (IRG).

He obtained his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the National University of Singapore (NUS), under the supervision of Prof. Cecilia Laschi, where he focused on bio-inspired soft robotics. Prior to that, he earned an M.Phil. in Surgery from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, specializing in medical soft robotics.

His research centers on the development of hyper-redundant robotic systems through bioinspired design principles, with a particular interest in reducing system complexity by integrating mechanical compliance and intelligent control strategies. His goal is to enable robotic systems to operate effectively in confined or previously inaccessible environments, and to develop intuitive human–robot interfaces that enhance seamless interaction.
