Xinru Wang is a Postdoctoral Associate for the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART) Centre with the Mens, Manus and Machina (M3S) Research Group, mentored by Prof. Thomas W. Malone.
She completed her Ph.D in Computer Science at Purdue University, advised by Prof. Ming Yin. Prior to Ph.D, she received her B.S in Intelligence Science and B.S in Psychology (dual degree) from Peking University, China.
Her research lies at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and AI, with a focus on Explainable AI (XAI).
She evaluates and designs XAI systems from a user-centered perspective for better AI-assisted human decision making. Her research considers the contextual relevance in fast evolving AI models and diverse user interfaces, with an emphasis on making AI explanations collaborative, adaptable, and glanceable.
